Attica – Hiking Tour

First Day: Parnitha Mountain

Starting from Mont Parnes casino parking area we will take a path that leads to Bafi shelter after 1,30’ hours. We will take a break for half an hour and we will continue through the forest of spruce trees till the next stop, at flaburi shelter. We can all have a snack and a drink with a breathtaking view to the area down below, as far as the city of Athens and Piraeus port, even the island of Saronic golf and the mountains around Ymittos, Pendeli. We continue our descent on a beautiful path that will bring us back to the starting point after 1,30’ hours.

Second Day: Ymittos Mountain

First Option

Starting from Pirofilaki Kesarianis we will walk a nice path that will bring us to Fragomonastiro and the hill of Taxiarhou. We go on, until the top of Kalogeros where we can have a spectacular view to the city of Athens and see the green forest of Ymittos mountain far to its top.We continue until the Kesariani monastery for a short visit and through a beautiful path we will get up to Kalopoula area. Finally we will stop for a nice view at the Anthousa tower. Our last  destination is Asteriou monastery through a slightly uphill path, where we will have a short visit and then our bus can pick up everybody and get us to a greek taverna at the Mesogea with local dishes and some wine (Retsina) we can visit Koutouki cave or a winery at the area.

Second Option

As a second Option we can start from the parking area of Saketa in the Vironas area and through a path we can visit the unique “dragon house” at the slope of Ymittos. After a break for the pleasure of view we can continue to the “kakorema” point. The old quarry area where they used to break rocks and marble to build the city of Athens and mainly the roads and municipal buildings. It’s an amazing place with special vibes.

Third Day: Vouliagmeni – Sounio

We start  our route at the parking lot of Lake Vouliagmeni. We will climb the hill of  “Faskomilia” where  we can have a spectacular view of lake vouliagmeni and the “Lemos” peninsula, as well as the whole area of the most beautiful spot of Attica. Northen part, the marina of vouliagmeni and the saronic islands as well as the coast of Peloponesse far at the end.

We can reach the top, within an hour of walk where we can have a view to the Varkiza area ath the other part of the hill. After having our break we start the descent to the spot of Island, a summer beach club, where our bus will pick up everybody to continue our day at the attica peninsula by a coastal ride until Agios Konstantinos, a village above Lavrio port. There we will walk until Chaos, an interesting place where it is said that a meteorite has fallen many years ago. We can continue our hiking through the sounio National Park and see the ruins of houses where the miners that worked for the “French Mining Company” were living and descent until we reach the main road by the Legrena beach where our bus will pick up everybody. Our lunch at a local taverna in Lavrio will make everybody happy!

After time at Lavrio village we will all meet at the bus for a visit to Sounio, The Temple of Poseidon. Our group will enjoy a unique view of the area walking all around the archaea gical palace with the outstanding temple of Poseidon and the view at the Aegean sea. It is about time to take our cameras ready for an exclusive shooting at the most romantic sunset with the white marble ancient columns of the temple, for the best memories.
