1st Day: ATHENS AIRPORT ARRIVAL

Arrival at the airport of Athens and we depart for Athens. We will have free time (depends on the arrival time of our flight). Arrival to our hotel. Dinner and overnight stay.

2nd Day: ATHENS

After breakfast, we will have a City Tour, starting from the Panathenaic Stadium known as Kallimarmaro. In Antiquity, the Stadium was used for Panathenea, the celebration head in honor of Goddess Athena. Free time for photos will be given. With the bus we will be heading for Zappeion Hall, the Greek Parliament and the Tomb of Unknown Soldier, which is a symbolic monument dedicated to the memory of the soldiers who died fighting for their country. Passing along Panepistimiou Street, one of the most known and central streets of Athens, we will end up in the triad of neoclassical buildings: The Library, the Academy and the University. Coming next is our most important visit in the center of Athens, Acropolis. Here we will have the chance to admire magnificent monuments, such as Parthenon, the Temple of Athena Nike, the Erechtheion, the Propilaia, the Ancient Agora, the theatre of Dionysus and the Odeon of Herodes Atticus. We will have time for a tour in Parthenon Monument, which was built in the 5th century B.C by the architects Ictinus and Kallikrates. A visit in the New Acropolis Museum follows, which mainly includes findings of the archaeological area of Acropolis. The Museum first opened in 2009 and the building was designed by French-Swiss Benar Tschumi. It is considered one of the most beautiful museums. After that, we will have free time in the old historical neighborhood of Plaka, a district in the center of Athens, near the Acropolis. Departure to our hotel. Dinner and overnight stay.

3rd Day: ISTHMUS OF CORINTH – ANCIENT CORINTH – NAFPLION

After breakfast, we will depart for Ancient Corinth. Our first stop will be at the Isthmus of Corinth. It is a narrow strip of land 6 kilometers in length joining Central Greece with Peloponnese. We will have free time to take photos. Then, we will drive to the Ancient Corinth, an important city – state in Ancient Greece that dates back from the Neolithic Period (5.000-3.000). We will visit one of the largest museums in Greece, in terms of the wealth and quality of the findings. We continue our trip for the capital of the prefecture Argolis, Nafplion. It is one of the most scenic cities in the country and it was the first capital of Greek state during the period 1828 – 1833. We will have free time to explore the picturesque streets of the city. Arrival at our hotel. Dinner and overnight stay.

4th Day: MYCENAE – NAFPAKTOS – DELPHI

After breakfast, we will depart for Mycenae. It was an ancient city of Argolis and one of the largest Greek culture centers forming a strong military fortress. We shall visit the Kingdom of Mythical Agamemnon whom first Homer praised in his epics. Then, we will depart for Nafpaktos. It is a coastal town situated in the Corinth Gulf, a city of great history. It appears in 1104 BC with the Dorians. It is known for the naval battle that was taken place in 1571 between Christians and the Turks. We will have time to wander around the picturesque Venetian harbour and take photos. Then, we will visit the Monastery of Holy Transfiguration in Nafpaktos. Departure for Delphi and arrival to our hotel. Dinner and overnight stay.

5th Day: KALAMBAKA

After breakfast, we will depart for Delphi. Ιt was an ancient Greek city in which the most important Oracle of ancient Greek world was operated. Earlier myths include traditions that Pythia, or the Delphic oracle, already was the site of an important oracle in the pre-classical Greek world (as early as 1400 BC) and, rededicated, served as the major site during classical times for the worship of the god Apollo after he slew Python, “a dragon” who lived there and protected the navel of the Earth. We will be guided around the Archaeological Site and the Museum. Then, we will depart for Kalambaka. Arrival to our hotel. Dinner and overnight stay.

6th Day: METEORA – KAVALA

After breakfast, we will depart for Meteora and we will start our daily trip, by visiting the prefecture built in a rare geological phenomenon of Meteora. It’s a cluster of huge dark colored stones made of sandstone. The name Meteora is attributed to the monk of the monastery, Agios Athanasius the Meteorite. We will have the chance to enjoy the panoramic view and visit two of the monasteries. Then, we will depart for Kavala. Arrival to our hotel. Dinner and overnight stay.

7th Day: PHILIPPI (BAPTISTERY OF ST. LYDIA) – THESSALONIKI

After breakfast, we will continue our trip to Kavala. Synthesis of mosaic is placed in the step of Apostle Paul in the city of Kavala, next to Church Agios Nikolaos, with title “The arrival of the Apostle Paul in Neapolis of Philippi”. At this point then allegedly became the landing of St. Paul has created a monument honoring the first steps in the city of Kavala. Our next stop will be at the Ancient Colony of Philippi, which was built in 356 B.C. by Alexander’s father, Philip II. We will visit the Ancient Theatre and the Church of Philippi, founded by Apostle Paul in 49 a.D. It was the first church in European territory. Then we will visit the Baptistery of St. Lydia of Filippisias. Then, we will be heading to the second largest city of Greece, Thessaloniki. It was founded by the ascendant of Alexander the Great, Cassander. Arrival to our hotel. Dinner and overnight stay.

8th Day: THESSALONIKI

After breakfast, we will have a city tour, starting from Saint Dimitrius, where we will pilgrimage the relics of the Saint, admire the mosaics of the Church and also visit the spot where the Saint martyred. Our next stop will be the White Tower and Upper Town, where we will enjoy a panoramic view of Thessaloniki. Free time in the city for photos and shopping. Arrival to our hotel. Dinner and overnight stay.

9th Day: VERIA – VERGINA – IGOUMENITSA

After breakfast, we will depart for Veria, the capital of Imathia. It is built at the foot of Mount Vermio. We will have free time to visit the Step of Apostle Paul. Then, we will depart for Vergina, where we will visit the museum with the four tombs and a small shrine, the Heroes Garden. Two of the tombs are the most significant, the one of Philip II and the other of Alexander the fourth. Then, we will depart for the port of Igoumenitsa, where we will take the ferry to Bari, Italy. Dinner and overnight on board.

10th Day: BARI – POMPEII – ROME

Arrival to the port of Bari and we departure for Pompeii, which was an ancient city located near Naples in the Campania region of Italy. Pompeii was buried under 4 to 6 m (13 to 20 ft) of volcanic ash and pumice in the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in AD 79. Largely preserved under the ash, the excavated city offered a unique snapshot of Roman life and an extraordinarily detailed insight into the everyday life of its inhabitants. Pompeii is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Our next stop is Rome. Arrival to our hotel. Dinner and overnight stay.

11th Day: ANCIENT ROME

After breakfast, we will start our daily itinerary program from Ancient Rome. We will have various stops, including the symbol of Roman Empire, the Colosseum, the Palatine Hill, the Ancient Market, the Imperial Forum in Piazza Venezia, with the imposing Vitoria symbol of New Rome, the Piazza Navona, the San Paolo Fuori, the Monastery of Tre Fontana, San Clemente Church etc. Return to the hotel late in the evening. Dinner and overnight stay.

12th Day: VATICAN MUSEUMS

After breakfast, we will depart from the hotel to visit the autonomous state of Vatican, the Vatican Museums with the popes treasures and collections over the Etruscans, the rooms of Raffaello, Cappella Sistina, Michelangelo work of art and the St. Peter Basilica, known as the biggest Basilica of Christianity. Return to the hotel in the evening. Dinner and overnight stay.

13th Day: ROME AIRPORT DEPARTURE

After breakfast, we will have free time for photos and shopping (depends on the departure time of our flight). Then, we will depart for the airport of Rome with the best memories.
