The JCII 5-Day Biblical Experience of Greece Tour

Day 01 / August 16, 2025: Athens – Delphi – Kalambaka Overnight

After breakfast, we will depart and visit Delphi. Ιt was an ancient Greek city in which the most important Oracle of ancient Greek world was operated. Earlier myths include traditions that Pythia, or the Delphic oracle, already was the site of an important oracle in the pre-classical Greek world (as early as 1400 BC) and, rededicated, served as the major site during classical times for the worship of the god Apollo after he slew Python, “a dragon” who lived there and protected the navel of the Earth. We will be guided around the archaeological site and the Museum. We will visit the archeological museum with the Gallio inscription, on which the dating of the life of Paul is based (Acts 18:12), the Sphinx of Thebes, Temple of Athena, Goddess of Wisdom (the philosophical background of Paul, the Hellenized Jew). Then, we will depart for Kalambaka. Dinner and overnight stay. (B, D)

Day 02 / August 17, 2025: Kalambaka – Meteora – Veria – Vergina – Thessaloniki overnight

After breakfast, we will depart for Meteora and visit the prefecture built in a rare geological phenomenon of Meteora. It’s a cluster of huge dark colored stones made of sandstone. The name Meteora is attributed to the monk of the monastery, Agios Athanasius the Meteorite. We will have the chance to enjoy the panoramic ride and to visit one of the six visited monasteries. Then, departure for the capital of Imathia, which name is Veria. It is built at the foot of Mount Vermio. Visit the ancient synagogue and see the Step where Paul spoke to the Verians (Acts 17) and the Synagogue. It is located next to the Barbouta area, which over time came to be known as the Jewish District. The stone-built Synagogue is the most ancient synagogue of Northern Greece. Then, we will head to Vergina, where we will visit the museum with the four tombs, two of which are the most significant, and a small shrine, the Heroes Garden. Two of the tombs are the most significant, the one of Philip II and the other of Alexander the fourth. Departure for Thessaloniki, the second largest city of Greece, which was founded by the ascendant of Alexander the Great, Cassander. Arrival at the hotel. Dinner and overnight stay. (B, D)

Day 03 / August 18, 2025: Thessaloniki – Philippi – Kavala – Thessaloniki overnight

After breakfast, we drive east to Philippi: visit Paul’s Jail (Acts 16), the Christian Basilica, the Greco-Roman round theatre. Visit the Lydia baptismal site at Zigakti river (Acts 16:15). Next, we proceed to Kavala for a panoramic view of Port of Neapolis first place where Paul put his feet in Europe (Acts 16 7-11). A short walk along Via Egnatia, where Paul walked on his way to Thessaloniki. Then, we return back and we will have a City Tour of Thessaloniki, starting from Saint Dimitrius, where we will pilgrimage the relics of the Saint, admire the mosaics of the Church and also see the spot where the Saint martyred. Following that, we will visit the White Tower and the Upper Town, where we will have a panoramic view of Thessaloniki. Arrival to our hotel. Dinner and overnight stay. (B, D)

Day 04/ August 19, 2025: Thessaloniki – Palaios Panteleimon – Athens overnight

After breakfast, this morning, we will return to Athens via the Valley of Tempi and Thermopylae. We visit Palaios Panteleimon village, a picturesque village nestled on the slopes of Mount Olympus in northern Greece. Known for its well-preserved traditional Macedonian architecture, the village offers stone-built houses, cobblestone streets, and a stunning view of the Thermaic Gulf. We continue for Athens. Dinner and overnight stay. (B, D)

Day 05/ August 20, 2025: Athens – Athens Airport Departures

After breakfast, we check out from the hotel and will have a group transfer to the airport of Athens.
