1st Day: AIRPORT (ARRIVAL)ST. BARNABAS MONASTERY & TOMB – ANCIENT SALAMIS – PAPHOS

Arrival at the airport and departure for our daily tour excursion. Crossing the check point at Vryssoulles on the east of island to the Turkish occupied area of Cyprus. Our first visit will be the Monastery and Tomb of St Varnavas, the founder of  the Cyprus Church back in the year 61 AD. Next stop is the Ancient Salamis, the first Hellenistic Civilization settlement of the island and the first capital of Cyprus as back as 1100 B.C. The ruins of the town are situated in a radius of 5 km. We will have enough time to walk through the impressive and well preserved Gymnasium and Amphitheatre. Departure for our hotel. Dinner and overnight stay.

2nd Day: PAPHOS

After breakfast, we will start our excursion by reaching “Petra touRomiou known as Birthplace of Aphrodite, where according to legend, Aphrodite (the Goddess of love and beauty) was born. We will have the chance to enjoy the view of the crystal sea and small bay. Our next stop is at Paphos, the most interesting town in Cyprus in regard to the history of the island. Kindly note that there are many monuments included in the UNESCO world cultural heritage list. We will visit the St Solomoni Catacombs and the St Paul’s Pillars. We will continue our excursion by visiting the Dionysos House, which is famous for its excellent preserved floor mosaics, presenting various scenes from greek history and mythology as well as geometrical schemes. Our last stop for the day will be at themagnificent Tombs of the Kings, where exceptional personalitiesand maybe Kings, were buried. Return back to our hotel. Dinner and overnight stay.

3rd Day: TROODOS – OMOTHOS VILLAGE – KYKKO MONASTERY

After breakfast, we will depart for our daily tour excursion. This tour takes us through mountain villages, where we will explore the green heart of Cyprus. Starting from Limassol and pass by the Kourris, the biggest water dam on the island, we will visit Omothos Village well known for its’ wine and intricate lace work. Very picturesque village, narrow streets with white stone houses and colorful flowers hanging down from balconies, surrounding the Holy Cross Monastery in the middle of the village. We will visit one of the traditional houses. Continue to Platres Village and the mount of Troodos. Enjoy the view and after a short break continue to the famous Kykko Monastery, the biggest and richest monastery on the island. Visit the monastery and the rich icons collection, one of them being painted by Apostle Loukas. Then, Monastery’s Museum is also a very important place to be visited. At the monastery’s surroundings there is a possibility to buy local products produced by either the monastery or the locals. Before leaving the area short visit to Archbishop Makarios Tomb which is located in the nearby area. Return back to our hotel. Dinner and overnight stay.

4th Day: LARNACA – AIRPORT (DEPARTURE)

After breakfast,we will depart for our daily tour excursion and drive to the west main way direction Larnaca, the third biggest town of Cyprus. Larnaca was the second home of Lazarus, who lived here and became Bishop. We will have time to visit the impressive 10th century church of St Lazarus in the centre of the town, which was built over the Saint’s tomb and is one of the best examples of the Byzantine architecture in Cyprus. We will walk around the famous palms promenade, where are situated coffee shops, restaurants and all kind of entertainment. We will continue our tour to the ruins of the Ancient Town  Kition built by immigrants from Mycenae in 12th century BC. In the outskirts of Larnaca, the most famous monuments we are going to visit, are the Hala Sultan Tekke, the third important monument in the Muslim world. The Mosque is built next to the picturesque nearby salt lake, known as the favorite winter habitat for flamingos and other immigrate birds. Then, we will depart for the airportwith the best memories.
