[vc_row][vc_column width=”2\/3″][vc_column_text]We start our One Day Tour and we will depart for the\u00a0Monastery of Hosios Loukas<\/strong>.\u00a0Hosios Loukas<\/strong>\u00a0is a historic walled monastery situated near the town of\u00a0Distomo<\/strong>, in\u00a0Boeotia<\/strong>. It is one of the\u00a0most important monuments of Middle\u00a0<\/strong>Byzantine architecture<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<\/strong>art<\/strong>. It has been listed on\u00a0UNESCO<\/strong>\u2018s\u00a0<\/strong>World Heritage Sites<\/strong>. The\u00a0Monastery of Hosios Loukas<\/strong>\u00a0is situated at a scenic site on the slopes of\u00a0Mount Helicon<\/strong>. It was founded in the early 10th century AD by the hermit,\u00a0Venerable<\/strong>\u00a0St. Luke<\/strong>, whose relics are kept in the monastery to this day.\u00a0Hosios Loukas<\/strong>\u00a0is the largest of three monasteries surviving from the\u00a0Middle Byzantine<\/strong>\u00a0period in Greece. There is evidence that the monastery was reputed all over\u00a0Byzantium<\/strong>\u00a0for its lavish decoration, liberally applied to all surfaces. Then, we will depart for\u00a0Livadeia<\/strong>, which is the capital of the regional district of\u00a0Boeotia<\/strong>.\u00a0Pausanias<\/strong>, in the 2nd<\/sup>\u00a0century AD reported that the original name of the city was\u00a0Mideia<\/strong>, and that it took its name\u00a0Livadeia<\/strong>\u00a0from\u00a0Lebados<\/strong>\u00a0of\u00a0Athens<\/strong>, who moved the city from high to low ground, to its current location on the banks of the\u00a0Herkyna river<\/strong>. We will visit the area of\u00a0Krya<\/strong>. It is a place of unique beauty. The area is full of sources, supplied by the river of\u00a0Herkyna<\/strong>. It is believed that in ancient times,\u00a0Krya<\/strong>\u00a0was the oracle of\u00a0Zeus<\/strong>\u00a0Trophonius<\/strong>, the sources of\u00a0Lethe<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0Mnemosyne<\/strong>\u00a0and the precursor for\u00a0Delphi<\/strong>.
