1st<\/sup> Day: AIRPORT \u2013 ATHENS \u2013 SOUNIO<\/h3>\n

Departure from the airport to Athens<\/strong> and our hotel. Arrival and arrangement\/check-in in the rooms. Our Sounion <\/strong>\u03a4<\/strong>our<\/strong> begins with a wonderful drive along the scenic coastal road which allows a splendid view of the Saronic Gulf<\/strong>, passing through some of Athens\u2019 most beautiful suburbs (Glyfada, Vouliagmeni, Varkiza). Cape Sounion<\/strong> rises like a sheer cliff out of the sea as one approaches the site. At\u00a0Cape Sounion we will visit the Temple of Poseidon<\/strong>, dated from the 5th<\/sup> century B.C. and offering one of the most breathtaking panoramic views in the world. According to legend, Cape Sounion<\/strong> is the spot where Aegeas<\/strong>, King of Athens, believing that his only son Prince Theseas<\/strong> was dead, jumped off the cliff, giving his name to the Aegean<\/strong> Sea<\/strong>. The wind-swept Cape Sounio<\/strong>n<\/strong> was an obvious choice for a sanctuary of Poseidon<\/strong>, where the sailors might offer a last sacrifice to appease the mighty God of the Sea<\/strong> before leaving the comparative safety of the Saronic<\/strong> Gulf<\/strong> for the perils of the open Aegean<\/strong> Sea<\/strong>.\u00a0 The archaic temple was destroyed by the Persians in 480 B.C. and a new one was built in its place in 440 B.C. by Pericles<\/strong>.\u00a0 The contrast between the 12 white remaining Doric columns and the deep blue of the sea is still as spectacular as in the days of Lord<\/strong> Byron,<\/strong> who carved his name on the marble. 2nd<\/sup> Day: ATHENS CITY TOUR<\/h3>\n

After breakfast we depart for a City Tour<\/strong> starting from the Panathenaic Stadium<\/strong> known as Kallimarmaro<\/strong>. In Antiquity, the Stadium was used for Panathenea<\/strong>, the celebration held in honor<\/strong> of Goddess Athena<\/strong>. Free time for photos will be given. With the bus we will be heading for Zappeion Hall<\/strong>, the Greek Parliament<\/strong> and the Tomb of Unknown Soldier<\/strong>, which is a symbolic monument dedicated to the memory of the soldiers who died fighting for their country. Passing along Panepistimiou Street<\/strong>, one of the most known and central streets of Athens<\/strong>, we will end up in the triad of neoclassical buildings: The Library<\/strong>, the Academy<\/strong> and the University<\/strong>. Coming next is our most important visit in the center of Athens, Acropolis<\/strong>. Here we will have the chance to admire magnificent monuments, such as Parthenon<\/strong>, the Temple of Athena Nike<\/strong>, the Erechtheion<\/strong>, the Propilaia<\/strong>, the Ancient Agora<\/strong>, the theatre of Dionysus<\/strong> and the Odeon of Herodes Atticus<\/strong>. We will have time for a tour in Parthenon Monument<\/strong>, which was built in the 5th<\/sup> century B.C<\/strong> by the architects Ictinus <\/strong>and Kallikrates<\/strong>. A visit in the New Acropolis Museum<\/strong> follows, which mainly includes findings of the archaeological area of Acropolis<\/strong>. The Museum <\/strong>first opened in 2009 and the building was designed by French-Swiss Benar Tschumi<\/strong>. It is considered one of the most beautiful museums. After that, we will have a guided tour followed by free time in the old historical neighborhood of Plaka<\/strong>, a district in the center of Athens<\/strong>, near the Acropolis<\/strong>. 3rd<\/sup> DAY:\u00a0ISTHMUS OF CORINTH \u2013 ANCIENT NEMEA \u2013 TRADITIONAL WINERY \u2013 MYCENAE \u2013 NAFPLION<\/h3>\n

After breakfast departure for Peloponnese<\/strong>. Our first stop will be the Isthmus of Corinth<\/strong>. It is a narrow strip of land 6 kilometres in length joining Central Greece with Peloponnese<\/strong>. We will have free time to take photos. Then we begin with Ancient Nemea<\/strong>, a village of the Prefecture of Corinthia, famous ancient city known by the mythical lion which Hercules <\/strong>Killed. In Greek mythology, the Nemean Lion was a lion that lived in the region of Nemea<\/strong> and dread fear. It was Tyfonos and Echidna\u2019s descendant<\/strong>. Killing the lion was the first feat assigned to Hercules by Evrythea<\/strong>. Hercules fought with bare hands against the beast and strangled it. The dead body of the Lion was transferred by Gods in Heaven and formed the constellation of Leo. We will see the ruins of the Temple of Nemean Zeus<\/strong>. Only three columns and some parts of the others have survived. There wines Appellation of Origin of High Quality <\/strong>are produced. There we will taste famous wines at a Traditional Winery<\/strong>. Our next visit is Mycenae<\/strong>. It was an ancient city of Argolis and one of the largest Greek culture centres forming a strong military fortress. We shall visit the Kingdom of Mythical Agamemnon<\/strong> whom first Homer praised in his epics. Then we start for the capital of the prefecture Argolis<\/strong>, Nafplio<\/strong>n<\/strong>. It is one of the most scenic cities in the country and it was the first capital of Greek state during the period 1828 \u2013 1833. After breakfast we start for Nafpaktos<\/strong>. It is a coastal town situated in the Corinth Gulf<\/strong>, a city of great history. It appears in 1104 B.C<\/strong> with the Dorians<\/strong>. It is known for the naval battle that was taken place in 1571 between Christians and Turks<\/strong>. We will have free time to wander in the picturesque Venetian harbor<\/strong>. Then we depart for Delphi<\/strong>.\u0399t was an ancient Greek city in which the most important Oracle of ancient Greek world was operated. Arrival at our hotel. 5th DAY:\u00a0DELPHI \u2013 METEORA \u2013 KALAMPAKA<\/h3>\n

Departure after breakfast. We will be guided around the archaeological site and the Museum in Delphi<\/strong> and then have free time for lunch. Then we will head to Kalambaka<\/strong>. A town in the Trikala<\/strong> Prefecture built in a rare geological phenomenon of Meteora<\/strong>. It\u2019s a cluster of huge dark colored stones made of sandstone. The name Meteora<\/strong> is attributed to the monk of the monastery Agios<\/strong> Athanasius the Meteorite<\/strong>. Arrival in Kalambaka<\/strong> and our hotel. Departure after breakfast for a City Tour<\/strong> starting from Saint Dimitrius<\/strong>, where we will pilgrimage the relics of the Saint, admire the mosaics of the Church<\/strong>, and also see the spot where the Saint<\/strong> martyred. Following that, we will visit the White Tower<\/strong> and the Upper Town<\/strong> where we will have a panoramic view of Thessaloniki<\/strong>. Our next stop is the Archaeological Museum of Thessaloniki<\/strong>. Followed by free time in the city center<\/strong> for our lunch. Return to our hotel and relaxation. After breakfast we will visit the ancient colony of Philippi<\/strong>. It was built in 356 B.C. <\/strong>by Alexander\u2019s father<\/strong>, Philip II<\/strong>. Also, we will visit the Ancient Theatre<\/strong>, the church of Philippi<\/strong> which founded in 49 a.D. by Apostle Paul<\/strong>. It was the first church in European territory. We will also see the Baptistery of S. Lydia of Filippisias<\/strong>. Afterwards, we will visit a Traditional Winery<\/strong>, where we will taste local wines. Return to our hotel. 9th DAY:\u00a0CHALKIDIKI \u2013 ARISTOTLE\u2019S PARK \u2013 ANCIENT CITY OF AMPHIPOLIS<\/h3>\n

After breakfast departure for the most important historical area of Chalkidiki<\/strong>, the Ancient Stageira<\/strong>. Aristotle\u2019s birthplace<\/strong>. The city was founded in 665 B.C.<\/strong> by Ionian settlers who arrived from the island of Andros<\/strong>. There, you will have the chance to visit the Aristotle Park<\/strong> which is the only theme park of Chalkidiki<\/strong>. The original interactive organs hosted are operating on the basis of natural laws and are mentioned to Aristotle\u2019s writings<\/strong>. The experimental instruments hosted in the park are the following: The compass<\/strong>, the telescope<\/strong>, the prism<\/strong>, the Sundial<\/strong>, the lens<\/strong>, the pentafono<\/strong>, the water turbine<\/strong>, the idle globes and the parabolic mirrors<\/strong>.
