Run in the footsteps of Pheidipides<\/strong>, the legendary<\/strong> Athenian soldier<\/strong> that ran from the battlefield of Marathon<\/strong> to the city of Athens<\/strong> in full battle gear in 490BC to announce the victory of the Athenians<\/strong>. This event went down in history and gave its name to the race<\/strong> and distance we now know as the Marathon<\/strong>.<\/h3>\n<\/q>[\/vc_column_text]

Athens Authentic Marathon<\/h4>\n

<\/div>[vc_column_text]The Athens Authentic Marathon<\/strong> is recognized as the original marathon course. This very same course was used during the 2004 Olympics held in Athens.<\/p>\n

The Athens Marathon<\/strong>, the Authentic Marathon<\/strong>, is not just a sporting event, a hard race, a tough course of 42.195m. More than that, the Athens Marathon<\/strong>, the Authentic Marathon<\/strong>, is a bridge that unifies the legend with history; it showcases the strength of human will. It is a fountain of values, of social liability, environmental sensitivity, friendship and solidarity.<\/p>\n

<\/div>[vc_column_text]DAY 1: <\/em><\/strong>ATHENS AIRPORT<\/em><\/strong> –<\/em><\/strong> MARATHON <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Departure of your city and arrival at the Athens Airport \u201cEl. Venizelos\u201d<\/strong>, Greece. Gathering and transportation at Metropolitan<\/strong> Expo<\/strong>, in order to receive the participation package of the Marathon race. Gathering of the athletes and transportation to the hotel<\/strong>. Arrival and accommodation to the hotel. Dinner and overnight stay<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

DAY <\/em><\/strong>2: <\/em><\/strong>MARATHON<\/em><\/strong> TOUR<\/em><\/strong> & RACE ROUTE <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

After breakfast, we will depart for our Marathon Tour<\/strong>, which starts with a visit to one of the most historical municipalities of Greece. Marathon<\/strong> became known by the homonymous battle fought in September of 490 B.C. between the Athenians and the Persians. Our first stop will be at the Marathon Tomb<\/strong>, where 192 Athenians died at the historic battle of Marathon, a globally respected monument. Next stop will be at the Museum of Marathon Race<\/strong>. All the Marathon racers medals are kept there, as well as the one awarded to Spyros Louis, the winner of the Marathon race in the Athens Olympic Games held back in 1896. Then, we will stop at the Starting Point of Athens Marathon<\/strong> (we are proud to inform you that our Tourism Company is the Official Travel Agency<\/strong> of The Athens Marathon, the Authentic<\/strong>). Then, we will follow by bus the whole route of the Marathon Race, so as to be familiar with it and its difficulties. Return to the hotel<\/strong> and time to relax. During the evening, a pasta party<\/strong> will be held at your hotel. Dinner and overnight stay<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

DAY <\/em><\/strong>3: <\/em><\/strong>MARATHON RACE <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

After breakfast, we will depart for the starting point <\/strong>of the Marathon Race<\/strong>, in Marathon. By the time that you will finish the Race, we will pick you up from the finishing point<\/strong> of the Race<\/strong>, at Panathenaic Stadium<\/strong> and we will transfer you back to your hotel<\/strong>. Free time to relax and walk around Nea Makri. Dinner and overnight stay<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

DAY <\/em><\/strong>4: <\/em><\/strong>ATHENS<\/em><\/strong> DAILY<\/em><\/strong> TOUR<\/em><\/strong> (OPTIONAL) <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

After breakfast, we will depart for our Athens Daily Tour<\/strong>. Our first stop will be at the Panathenaic Stadium<\/strong> known as Kallimarmaro. In antiquity, the Stadium was used for Panathenea, the celebration in honor of Goddess Athena. Free time for photos will be provided. Then we will be heading to Zappeion Hall<\/strong>, the Greek Parliament<\/strong> and the Tomb of Unknown Soldier<\/strong>, which is a symbolic monument dedicated to the memory of the all the soldiers who died fighting for their country. Passing along Panepistimiou Street<\/strong>, one of the most known streets of Athens, we will end up in the triad of neoclassical buildings: The Library<\/strong>, the Academy<\/strong> and the University<\/strong>. Next is Acropolis<\/strong>, the most important visit in the center of Athens with the magnificent monuments of Parthenon<\/strong>, the Temple of Athena Nike<\/strong>, the Erechtheion<\/strong>, the Propilaia<\/strong>, the Ancient Agora<\/strong>, the Theatre of Dionysus<\/strong> and the Odeon of Herodes<\/strong> Atticus<\/strong>. We will have time for a tour in Parthenon Monument<\/strong>, which was built in the 5th century B.C by the architects Ictinus and Kallikrates. A visit in the Acropolis Museum<\/strong> follows, which mainly includes findings of the archaeological area of Acropolis. After that, we will have free time in the old historical neighborhood of Plaka<\/strong>, a district in the center of Athens, near the Acropolis. We will have free time for photos and shopping in the area. Dinner<\/strong> at a restaurant in Plaka<\/strong> and return to the hotel<\/strong> for your overnight stay<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

DAY <\/em><\/strong>5: <\/em><\/strong>MARATHON<\/em><\/strong> – <\/em><\/strong>ATHENS AIRPORT <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

After breakfast, we will transfer you to the Athens Airport \u201cEl. Venizelos\u201d, in order to catch your flight back home.
